Antique tablecloth made from tussah silk (Antheraea pernyi). Label reads: "Antique tablecloth of tussah silk (Antheraea pernyi) made in China around the 1920s. The silk is hand-reeled and handwoven, and is the natural beige color. The piece is embroidered with spun mulberry silk (Bombyx mori). Purhcased by RIchard S. Peigler in November 2017 by mail-order from an internet seller in Pomona Park, Florida. Pieces like this (tableclothes, handkerchiefs) were imported by the thousands into the USA in the 1920s and 1930s.
