Ankle rattles made from Gonometa rufobrunnea cocoons. Label reads: "Ankle rattles composed of moth cocoons of Gonometa rufobrunnea (Lasiocampidae), made by San people (=Bushman) in Botswana, near Shashe River, south of Francistown. These rattles are used in night-time trance dances by the San. Purchased by mail-order in November 2015 by Richard S. Peigler from Paul Wellhauser, a merchant in Toronto who imports and sells African art and artifacts. The ends of the cocoons have been cut off. Price paid: US$35.00/pair"
