SeasonalityAdults can be found in late May to mid-October.
IdentificationThe forewings of males are pale golden-brown and fairly irrorate. Antennae are brownish-yellow and the vertex is a yellow-brown. The legs are yellow to pale straw with straw-coloured spurs. The male genitalia is similar to H. vexa, but the lateral membranous lobes of the aedaagus in H. bifida are larger and have a large, stout terminal spine. As well, the tips of the lateral lobes are directed anterad (Nimmo, 1987).
