This print illustrates chapter 25, "Hotaru" in the novel "Genji Monogatari". There are three figures, one standing and two kneeling. The standing figure is separated from the others by a screen. In this chapter, Genji wants Tamakazura to meet with his brother, now called Prince Hotaru. She resists, but finally gives in, although she is trying to hide. Genji arranges for fireflies [hotaru] to light her up so the prince can see her.
