Each leaf contains a landscape, which was painted in situby Wang Gai. Repeating themes throughout the album include figures immersed in the natural environment, which reflects the literati’s yearning and nostalgia.

In this scene, a man looks out of one of five cottages, which are surrounded by mountains and a lake. There is a waterfall in the distance and a boat docked by the cottages.
