Man's sleeveless waistcoat in a patterned maroon velvet. Fabric features narrow pattern of scrolling vine with leaves and a small speckled fruit in sheared and unsheared velvet, and areas without velvet. Jewel neckline and close fitting body with a flared skirt extending below the hip, with pockets. Button closing down the front, 19 buttons and buttonholes, 6 buttons below the waist are decorative, not functional. Side and centre back vents. Fitting adjusted at the back with lacing through 14 pairs of eyelets. Back of navy coloured tightly twisted woolen fabric.
