Site TypecaveDescriptionThe site is located at the eastern end of the village of Tourtoirac, with the Auvézère river 75m away and a spring about 100m above the site. Evidence for Aurignacian, Perigordian, Solutrean and lower Magdalenian habitations were reported by Sonneville-Bordes (1960), but stratigraphy is doubtful due to poor excavations. More recent excavations has resulted in the discovery of two Mousterian levels in the talus in front of the cave.
