Twin Pines - James Pass site

Borden NumberEkPu-8 Site Typehabitation DescriptionThe site is approximately 10m above James Pass Meadow, on the floor of a NW-SE trending U shaped notch in the hillside north of James Pass Meadow. It is flat and sheltered by treed bedrock outcropping on all but the SW side, which slopes gently toward the Meadow. At least 5 culture bearing horizons, three occuring beneath Mazama ash. Considerable lithic material, mostly local silicified siltstone of Banff Chert. Diagnostics include points resembling Besant, Pelican Lake, Hanna, and Bitterroot types. No diagnostics found beneath the ash, but a few heavy tools were discovered. Artifacts include projective points, tools, debitage, FCR, and faunal remains.

The site is approximately 10m above James Pass Meadow, on the floor of a NW-SE trending U shaped notch in the hillside north of James Pass Meadow.
