Site Typehabitation; quarryDescriptionThe site is located on Nevada State Route 48, approximately 93km (58mi) north of Lovelock, on an eastern slop of a spur of the Kamma Range. It is bounded to the west, south and east by flash-flood gullies. Barrel Springs is a limited occupation and rhyolite source and workshop. The rhyolite is local, but obsidian for artifacts was imported. Artifacts include projectile points, scrapers, ulitized flakes, roughouts and blades, as well as other stone tools. The site has been relatively dated to ca. 1000BC to 700AD using the Elko and Rose Spring/Eastgate Series.
