The La Vega river is a main tributary of the Rio Grande, flowing south and east. The ruins of Zacualpa fall into 3 main groups, A through C, with several additional isolated mounds. Group B lies west of Group A by approximately 560m. Group C is located approximately 300m southeast of Group B and 310m southwest of Groupd A.
