Brief BioCanadian, born 1956 NationalityCanadian DescriptionDaniel Bagan’s paintings, often created “en plein air,” reflect an intimate relationship with the landscape of Alberta. Past series have focused on the Peace River Region and Lac Ste. Anne west of Edmonton. According to Bagan, “working out of doors is thus many things for me: a challenge to interpret freshly, with new eyes, reflection on the immense beauty of our natural world, a reportage of a disappearing landscape, a protest against men’s surreal and destructive practices.”(1) Daniel Bagan was born in Terrace, British Columbia in 1956. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Alberta in 1978. Since the early 1980s, Bagan has maintained an active exhibition record throughout Alberta. His work can be found in many corporate, private, and public collections, including the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and the Canada Council Art Bank.
