Sansoni could be mistaken only for one of the Syngrapha species with yellow hindwings (i.e. orophila, borea, ignea etc.) but these are all either much smaller or have different shaped stigma on the forewings.

Life History Adults are nocturnal and come to light. There is a single brood per year. Conservation An uncommon but widespread species; no concerns. Diet Info Unknown. Range A western mountain species, found from Alaska south to Oregon, Idaho and Arizona. In Alberta it can be found throughout the foothills and mountains.
