SeasonalityJune to mid July. IdentificationWingspan 16-18 mm. Ground color of wings above bluish gray. Forewings above with a fine, black PM line, a large, dark, wedge-shaped median area that is widest at the costa, and an obscure, dark, discal spot. The hindwings above are bluish gray with a faint PM line and a somewhat whitish median area. The genitalia are described by Munroe (1976). Closest to Loxostege anartalis but the latter is larger, has whitish PM lines and lacks the wedge-shaped area in the forewings. Also similar to Ostrinia marginalis but the latter has white PM lines on both fore and hind wings.
