Scientific Name Synanthedon proxima Habitat Wet meadows, wetland edges and swampy areas with willow. Seasonality Adults have been collected in Alberta in early July. Life History Adults are diurnal. Larvae bore in branches, canes and exposed roots of low growing willow. There is a single brood each year. Conservation Apparently uncommon and local and at the western edge of their range in central Alberta. Diet Info Low growing willows (Salix species). Range Primarily an eastern species, occuring from Nova Scotia and Maine west to eastern Nebraska and south central Alberta, where they have been collected in the Red Deer River valley east of Trochu.
