Scientific Name Coptotomus longulus Notes

Coptotomus adults can be separated from other Colymbetinae adults by having the terminal articles of the labial and maxillary palps notched at the tip. The photo specimen of Coptotomus longulus, the only species known to occur in Alberta, is about 8 mm in length. Adults are found in standing waters and slow areas of streams.
