SeasonalityAdults collected May to July. IdentificationMember of the luctuosus group, (subgenus Pseudomaseus). Small and narrow species. Black, appendages in part slightly paler. Antennae much more slender than in P. corvinus. Prothorax little constricted at base, sides with shallow, sometimes almost non-existing sinuation behind, hind angles varying from obtuse to right, denticulate; base more or less punctate, lateral carina evident. Elytral striae from clearly, though finely, to virtually not at all punctate. Length 8 to 12 mm.

Life History Believed to overwinter in the adult stage. Conservation Relatively common. Diet Info Both larvae and adults are predatory. Range This species is found in most of northern United States and most of Canada. In Alberta the three records are from the central region.
