SeasonalityAdults collected late summer (no Alberta specimens available). IdentificationMember of the amethystinus group, (subgenus Hypherpes). Deep black with mouth-parts, tarsi and outer parts of antennae somewhat paler. Prothorax strongly constricted at base with short linear latero-basal impression; hind-angles completely rounded and very obtuse. Elytra with narrow shoulders, no humeral tooth, striae deep, virtually impunctate, intervals convex. Length 9 to 11.5 mm.

This species is recorded from only Alaska, Washington, Idaho and Montana in the United States, and British Columbia and Alberta in Canada. Published records indicate that this species has only been collected in the extreme southwest corner of Alberta.
