SeasonalityFound May to September. IdentificationCharacterized by a 6, 4 palp formula, 12 or more teeth on the mandibles, no propedeum spines, petiolar node is rounded with a ventral cone projecting forward on the peduncle and the scape surpasses the occipital border equal to its greatest thickness (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963, Creighton, 1950 and Fisher and Cover, 2007). Workers are usually ~4.0-6.5 mm in length and are a reddish orange (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963, and Creighton, 1950).

Characterized by a 6, 4 palp formula, 12 or more teeth on the mandibles, no propedeum spines, petiolar node is rounded with a ventral cone projecting forward on the peduncle and the scape surpasses the occipital border equal to its greatest thickness (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963, Creighton, 1950 and Fisher and Cover, 2007). Workers are usually ~4.0-6.5 mm in length and are a reddish orange (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963, and Creighton, 1950).

Life History Nests are made up of only a few hundred individuals and are monogamous. Not much else is known. Conservation Not of concern. Diet Info Omnivorous. Feed on insects and seeds, do not farm aphids. Range Found in western North America, at higher elevations. Found south to Nevada, east to North Dakota and North to Alberta.
