The most distinctive feature that separates M. brevinspinosa from M. incomplete is the shape of the frontal carina, which is rounded, thin and strongly elevated (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963). Workers are ~3.2-5.0 mm in length, with dark red heads and gasters with a yellowish thorax (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963).
Life History As with most Myrmica species the life history of this ant is not well documented. It has nuptial flights in late August early September and its larvae do not form pupae. Conservation Not of concern. Diet Info Omnivorous and farm aphids on grass stems. Range Found through out most of North America and Alberta.
