SeasonalityFound through May to September. IdentificationWorkers are ~3.5-6.3 mm in length and are brownish-black color with slightly paler appendages (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1977). Pubescence on gaster creates a silky luster (Francoeur, 1973).

Scientific Name Formica podzolica Habitat Found most commonly in open woodlands (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1977). Seasonality Found through May to September. Identification Workers are ~3.5-6.3 mm in length and are brownish-black color with slightly paler appendages (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1977). Pubescence on gaster creates a silky luster (Francoeur, 1973). Life History Not known. Conservation Not of concern. Diet Info Omnivorous but are also above ground aphid farmers. Range Probably one of the most common ants throughout North America (Francoeur, 1973).
