SeasonalityFound through May to September. IdentificationWorkers are ~3.5-7.0 mm in length, with a dark red head and thorax with a reddish-black gaster (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963). The crest of the petiole is thin in profile and the gastric pubescence is never reflected (Creighton, 1950 and Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963). Body hairs are uniform in length and the scape has delicate erect hairs on it (Creighton, 1950 and Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963).

Life History Facultative slave makers, these ants will raid nest of the fusca group complex for slaves (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963). Not much else is known. Conservation Not of concern. Diet Info Omnivorous, but predate heavily on insects; will also farm aphids. Range Saskatchewan to Utah and North Dakota to Washington (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963). Only one site has been reported from Alberta: Rainbow Valley, Edmonton (Sharplin, 1966).
