SeasonalityFound through May to September. IdentificationWorkers are ~3.5-7.0 mm in length, with a red head, dark reddish brown thorax and a dusky red abdomen (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963). Erect hairs are present on the hind tibia and cover all surfaces and the clypeus is box-like with deep pit-like fossae (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963). The petiolar scale tapers inward form the crest and has a convex apex. (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963).

Workers are ~3.5-7.0 mm in length, with a red head, dark reddish brown thorax and a dusky red abdomen (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963). Erect hairs are present on the hind tibia and cover all surfaces and the clypeus is box-like with deep pit-like fossae (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963). Life History Not well known. Conservation Not of concern. Diet Info Omnivorous, but predate heavily on insects; will also farm aphids. Range From Southern Canada to New England but are found across North America (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963). In Alberta are found in sandy soil forests of Opal and in wood areas in the south (Sharplin, 1966).
