SeasonalityFound through May to September. IdentificationWorkers are ~3.5-5.5 mm in length, with a dusky red head, red-brown thorax and dark red gaster(Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963). The gula are without erect hairs and gena have wide coarse punctures (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1977).

Scientific Name Formica neorufibarbis Habitat Boreal and alpine forests (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963). Seasonality Found through May to September. Identification Workers are ~3.5-5.5 mm in length, with a dusky red head, red-brown thorax and dark red gaster(Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963). The gula are without erect hairs and gena have wide coarse punctures (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1977). Life History Not known. Conservation Not of concern. Diet Info Omnivorous but also farm aphids above ground. Range Alaska to Mexico, and extend east to South Dakota (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963).
