SeasonalityFound through May to September. IdentificationWorkers are ~2.5-5.5 mm in length and have a reddish-black color head and abdomen with a yellower thorax (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963). The scapes are 1.25x longer then their head and bear erect whitish hairs (Creighton, 1950).

Life History Colonies are polygynous and can be made up of tens of thousands of workers (Cover and Fisher, 2007). Not much else is known. Conservation Not of concern. Diet Info Omnivorous but are also above ground aphid farmers. Range Ranges across most of western North America, (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963).
