Workers are ~4.0-6.0 mm in length and are a shiny yellowish-red in colour (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963). The petiolar scale’s doral surface is flat and the sides are parallel. The scape of this species is also lacking erect hairs (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963).
Life History Has been attributed to slave making (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963), but only rarely. Not much else has been reported on this species. Conservation Not of concern. Diet Info Omnivorous but are also above ground aphid farmers. Range Found throughout southern Canada south to New Mexico and Indiana (Wheeler and Wheeler, 1963). In Alberta this ant was found most commonly in the southern foothills regions (Sharplin, 1966).
