Workers are 6.0-13.0mm in length, with a black head and gaster and read thorax. The clypeus is ecarinate, the scape is not flattened at the base and extends beyond the occipital margin of the head. Pubescence is absent or very fine on the gaster and there are course punctures on the head, especially on the gena (Hansen and Klotz, 2005).
Life History Colonies made up of about 3000 ants, with only one queen. Conservation Not of concern. Diet Info Omnivorous, but rely heavily on tending aphids or coccids. Range Found in wooded areas across central North America. It makes it as far south as New Mexico and as far north as north-central Alberta (Hansen and Klotz, 2005).
