SeasonalityAdults collected in June and July.IdentificationThe head is approximately as long as it is wide, and ocelli are present in macropterous and brachypterous forms, but absent in apterous specimens. Ocelli are much smaller in the brachypters. Antennae are 8 or 9 segmented with simple or forked sense cones on segment 3, and a forked sense cone on segment 4. Maxillary palps are 3 segmented (Stannard, 1968). The pronotum is broadly rectangular, but not strongly reticulate and lacks any prominent posteroangular setae. The furca on the metathorax is not lyre-shaped, and the median tergal setae on abdominal segments 5 to 7 are further apart than their length (Mound and Kibby, 1998). Forewings with two pronounced longitudinal veins, and each vein has short weak setae (Stannard, 1968). Abdominal tergites usually lack microtrichia, and the metasternal furca is without a spinula. Terminal abdominal tergites lack spine-like setae. Tergite 8 may sometimes have irregular groups of microtrichiae. Spiracles on tergite 8 lack modified sculpture (Mound and Kibby, 1998).
