Medium- to large-sized metallic black species with either purplish-black elytra, or yellowish brown elytra with an elongate purplish-black stripe on apical third of each elytron. The pronotum has a deep median groove. Male antennae are strongly pectinate, female antennae are serrate. Length is between 11 and 18 mm.
Life History
Larvae live in soil and are agricultural pests in recently cleared land.

Forests and parklands throughout province. In North America, from Alaska to Newfoundland, south to Maine and Michigan in the east and central British Columbia in the west.
