SeasonalityAdults fly from mid-July though to the end of August.
IdentificationAdult antennae are yellow-brown and the vertex of the head is red-brown. In the males, the distal article of the clasper is bifurcated to acuminate, triangular processes (Nimmo, 1971).
Scientific Name
Rhyacophila vofixa
Habitat
Found in the mountains, ranging from swift brooks to turbulent torrents.
Seasonality
Adults fly from mid-July though to the end of August.
Identification
Adult antennae are yellow-brown and the vertex of the head is red-brown. In the males, the distal article of the clasper is bifurcated to acuminate, triangular processes (Nimmo, 1971).
Conservation
Common.
Diet Info
Larvae are probably predacious.
Range
Found throughout the Cordillera, extending from Alaska, south to Idaho and Washington. In Alberta, this species is confined to the mountain and foothill areas (Nimmo, 1971).
