SeasonalityAdults fly from early July to mid-September. IdentificationAdult antennae are red-brown and the vertex of the head deep chocolate brown. Spurs are brown. The distal article in male claspers is curved, uniform in width and has a squared tip (Nimmo, 1971).
Scientific Name Rhyacophila vocala Habitat Found in fast, turbulent, rocky, mountainous creeks; also known from smooth-flowing pebble creeks. Seasonality Adults fly from early July to mid-September. Identification Adult antennae are red-brown and the vertex of the head deep chocolate brown. Spurs are brown. The distal article in male claspers is curved, uniform in width and has a squared tip (Nimmo, 1971). Conservation Very common. Diet Info Larvae are probably predacious. Range From British Columbia and Alberta, south to California, New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona. This species widespread in the Cordillera, however, it seems to be confined to the mountain areas in Alberta (Nimmo, 1971).
