SeasonalityAdults fly from early July to late August.
IdentificationAdult antennae are yellow-brown with the vertex of the head a uniform deep brown. Spurs are brown. The dorso-posterior edge of segment 9 in males, is developed posterad and acuminate. Basal article of the clasper is shallowly indented (Nimmo, 1971).

Habitat
Mix of streams ranging from mountainous to hill, torrential to sluggish, rocky to earthen bottoms.

Adults fly from early July to late August.

Adult antennae are yellow-brown with the vertex of the head a uniform deep brown. Spurs are brown. The dorso-posterior edge of segment 9 in males, is developed posterad and acuminate. Basal article of the clasper is shallowly indented (Nimmo, 1971).
Life History
Overwinters (in Idaho) as a 4th instar larva and pupates late May to early July. Adults fly in the afternoon, with activity coming to a halt at dusk (LaFontaine, 1981).
Conservation
Very common.
Diet Info
Larvae feed mainly on decaying leaves (LaFontaine, 1981).
Range
From British Columbia, east to Labrador and as far south as Colorado. In Alberta, this species is mainly confined the mountain and foothill regions (Nimmo, 1971).
Notes
formerly Rhyacophila acropedes.
