Spurs are dark brown and spur formula is 1, 2, 2. Forewings are pale reddish brown. In males, the cercus is bifid and the ventral arm is long, slender and distally bulbous. Segment 10 process is massive and rounded-rectangular in shape (Nimmo, 1971).

Adult antennae are pale yellow-brown and the vertex of the head is pale yellow-brown. Spurs are dark brown and spur formula is 1, 2, 2. Forewings are pale reddish brown. In males, the cercus is bifid and the ventral arm is long, slender and distally bulbous. Segment 10 process is massive and rounded-rectangular in shape (Nimmo, 1971).
Life History Annual? This species overwinters in the egg stage or 1st instar in an egg matrix. Conservation Relatively common. Diet Info Larvae feed on detritus. Range This species range extends from Alaska, south to Michigan and New Hampshire. In Alberta, it is known mostly from the mountains and foothills; however there are a few records from boreal plains creeks (Nimmo, 1971).
