Body varies around 1 to 1.8mm in length, and is mainly brown. The fore tibiae are yellow, mid and hind tibiae are yellowish brown to brown, and the fore femora are yellowish brown or yellow. The antennae are brown, with segment 3 yellow or yellowish brown, and the base of segment 4 is yellowish brown. The head is broader than long, but shorter than the pronotum. Cheeks are slightly arched. Ocellar setae pair 3 is inside, or on the border of the ocellar triangle. Antennae are 7 segmented, and the trichomes on segments 3 and 4 are long and V-shaped. Mesonotum has transversely anastamosing sculpture and the mesosternum has a well-developed furca and spinula. Metanotum lacks campaniform sensilla and furca is present on the metasternum, but the spinula is absent. The forewings are pointed distally, with 3 (occasionally 2) distal setae on the forevein, and 10 setae on the hindvein. Both males and females are macropterous. Tergite 1 is sculptured transversely, though lines of sculpture don't extend to the median setae. Tergite 2 has 4 lateral setae, though the anterior-most setae are occasionally absent. A posteromarginal comb on tergite 8 is interrupted medially and tergite 9 has 2 pairs of campaniform sensilla. On males glandular areas present on abdominal sternites 3 to 7 are oval to rotund (Nakahara 1994).
