The larva hibernates and the pupa can be found inside folded leafs (MacKay 1962).

The larva feeds on grasses, goldenrod (Solidago sp.), and aster (Aster sp.) (Razowski 1979).
Range
From British Columbia to Nova Scotia, south to Florida and California. Widespread in Alberta.
