SeasonalityIn Alberta mid May to early June. IdentificationThe forewing is white with heavy grey shading on the basal half and with a prominent dark grey band that cuts through the median area of the wing that is narrowest towards the costa. Lighter grey shading is present towards the apex that is organized into at least faint indications of lines and is most prominent at the costa as small rectangles. At the upper terminal portion of the forewing there are usually prominent black spots. The hindwing is light greyish brown and faintly strigulated.

The forewing is white with heavy grey shading on the basal half and with a prominent dark grey band that cuts through the median area of the wing that is narrowest towards the costa. Lighter grey shading is present towards the apex that is organized into at least faint indications of lines and is most prominent at the costa as small rectangles. Life History The larva is a solitary defoliator. (Prentice 1965) Conservation Not of concern. Diet Info The larva feeds on fir (Abies sp.), hemlock (Tsuga sp.), and spruce (Picea sp.). (Prentice 1965) Range Found across Canada from British Columbia to Nefoundland. (Prentice 1965)
