There are three families of zygopterans (damselflies) in Alberta. Calopterygidae contains a single genus and species, Calopteryx aequabile Say. Larvae are separated from other damselfly larvae by the very large first article of the antenna. Calopteryx is not common in the province. The photo specimen, about 35 mm in length, was collected in the Cold Lake area of eastern Alberta.
