Common NameParthenice Tiger SeasonalityPeak activity from mid July to early August. IdentificationSimilar to G. virgo, but lacking the black spot in the middle of the hindwing. The transverse median band of the forewing is usually broader than in virgo. Parthenice is also slightly smaller overall.

Scientific Name Grammia parthenice Common Name Parthenice Tiger Habitat Found throughout the parkland and the mixed boreal forest, especially in open grassy areas. Diet Info A variety of herbaceous plants including grass, plantain (Plantago spp.), and dandelion (Taraxacum officinale). Range Newfoundland west to Vancouver Island, B.C., south to Florida and New Mexico.
