SeasonalityAdults fly from late May to early September, with a peak in July.
IdentificationAdults are a brown-black with bright yellow pilosity. The base outline of the male clasper is square and smoothly tapered distal as long and rounded distally. The process is curved gently postero-dorsad (Schmid, 1983).

Molanna flavicornis
Habitat
Lakes, sloughs, slower streams with sandy or muddy bottoms.
Seasonality
Adults fly from late May to early September, with a peak in July.
Identification
Adults are a brown-black with bright yellow pilosity. The base outline of the male clasper is square and smoothly tapered distal as long and rounded distally. The process is curved gently postero-dorsad (Schmid, 1983).
Conservation
Common.
Diet Info
Omnivores: diatoms, filamentous algae, vascular plant tissue and small invertebrates.
Range
West from Nova Scotia to British Columbia, and south to Colorado and New York (Schmid, 1983).
