SeasonalityThe few records are from August and September. IdentificationElytron with two preapical punctures; first elytral interval shiny; intervals smooth and shiny in basal half. Black, usually with faint broze lustre, 4 basal segments of antennae pale, at least beneath. Length 4.2 to 5.0 mm.

Scientific Name Notiophilus simulator Habitat In mountains, usually near tree line, on open or slightly shaded ground; on sandy soil with moss. Seasonality The few records are from August and September. Identification Elytron with two preapical punctures; first elytral interval shiny; intervals smooth and shiny in basal half. Black, usually with faint broze lustre, 4 basal segments of antennae pale, at least beneath. Length 4.2 to 5.0 mm. Life History None available. Conservation Rare. Diet Info Both adults are larvae are predatory. Range This species is found in western United States and Canada. In Alberta the three specimens were collected near Jasper.
