SeasonalityAdults of this species have been collected in June and August to October.
IdentificationElytron with two preapical punctures; first elytral interval shiny; intervals microreticulate in basal half (at least in outer intervals); frons with 6 carinae. Black or dark piceous, with bronzy or brassy lustre, elytra as a rule onscurely rufous towards apex, segments 1-4 of antennae pale, tibiae reddish, femora usually piceous or in part red. Length 4.8 to 5.7 mm.

Habitat
Dry sand-mixed moraine, in spots with tiny mosses, otherwise bare, near brooks.

Adults of this species have been collected in June and August to October.

Life History
Immature beetles observed end of July to begining of August; overwinters in adult stage.
Conservation
Relatively common.
Diet Info
Both adults are larvae are predatory.
Range
This species is found in western United States and Canada. In Alberta this species is found in the Rocky Mountains and the Cypress Hill in the southeast.
