Small reddish-orange and black click beetle (5-8 mm in length) with a variably sized black patch on the pronotum and a variable amount of black on the elytra. Tarsal claws have a basal seta, tarsal segments lack ventral lobes and the frontoclypeal carina is complete.
Life History
Larvae live in soil and are a minor agricultural pest. Populations in the prairies appear to be parthenogenetic (only females are present).
Conservation
Relatively common.
Range
Eastern and central Alberta north to Edmonton, east to Quebec and south to Colombia.
