IdentificationA medium-size (3.7 cm wingspan) moth with grey and black forewings and brown hindwings. Forewing pattern is distinctive, with the basal area and the area above the stigma, pale grey, as well as, the area along the costa near the apex. The area below the stigma is almost black. Stigma forms a narrow, silver shallow V-shape that points to the apex. Hindwings are pale yellow-brown with a broad, somewhat diffuse sooty-brown terminal band. Antennae are simple and the sexes are similar.

Life History
The adults are nocturnal and come to light. There is a single annual brood.
Conservation
A widespread and very rarely collected species, with a single Alberta record.
Diet Info
No Alberta data; elsewhere larvae have been reared on blueberry (Vaccinium).
Range
From Newfoundland and Labrador south to Maine, west across the Boreal forest to northern Saskatchewan and the foothills in Alberta. There is a single Alberta collection from Nordegg.
