SeasonalityThe only Alberta record was collected in July. IdentificationThe antennae of the adults are light brown, with the vertex of the head a uniform reddish brown. The thorax is uniformly yellow or pale brownish-purple. Further genitalia dissection of males are required for species identification. The distal process of the clasper is short, black and directed posterad. It also has a disto-ventral tooth.

The antennae of the adults are light brown, with the vertex of the head a uniform reddish brown. The thorax is uniformly yellow or pale brownish-purple. Further genitalia dissection of males are required for species identification. The distal process of the clasper is short, black and directed posterad. It also has a disto-ventral tooth.
Life History Annual (?). The larvae develop from fall to summer. Conservation Rare in Alberta, only one recorded specimen. Diet Info The larvae are detritovores, feeding on diatoms. Range In North America, O. sierra can be found in British Columbia, south to California, and east to Colorado. In Alberta, only one specimen has been collected at Waterton Lakes National Park.
