LeavesBasal leaves egg to lance-shaped; sessile; hairless; 1-6 cm long; margin entire or slightly toothed (Moss, 1983). FlowersSepals 3-5 mm long; petals white to pink or purple; 5-9 mm long (Moss, 1983). Fruits and SeedsDehiscent pod (silique) erect; crowded; hairless; 4-8 cm long; 1.5-3 mm wide; seeds in two rows; egg-shaped; winged on distal end (Moss, 1983).
Scientific Name Arabis drummondii A. Gray Common Name Drummond's rock cress (Johnson et al., 1995). General Description A biennial or perennial species with one to few stems, hairless to sparingly hairy, 10-70 cm tall; bears white to pink/purple flowers (Moss, 1983). Leaves Basal leaves egg to lance-shaped; sessile; hairless; 1-6 cm long; margin entire or slightly toothed (Moss, 1983). Flowers Sepals 3-5 mm long; petals white to pink or purple; 5-9 mm long (Moss, 1983). Fruits and Seeds Dehiscent pod (silique) erect; crowded; hairless; 4-8 cm long; 1.5-3 mm wide; seeds in two rows; egg-shaped; winged on distal end (Moss, 1983). Phenology May to August (JSTOR). Notes 2n=14*, 20 (Moss, 1983). Also known as Boechera stricta (E-Flora BC). Similar species: Arabis divaricarpa: purple rock cress; has narrower pods and only 1 row of seeds (Johnson et al., 1995).
