LeavesLance-shaped; 4-12 cm long and 1-6 cm wide; heart-shaped at base and clasping; bluish-green beneath; margin entire or toothed (Moss, 1983). No basal leaves (E-Flora BC). FlowersAxillary; solitary or in pairs; stalks jointed; tepals whitish-green; 8-12 mm long; tip bent backwards from cup-shaped base; ; lance-shaped; stamens short filaments; ovary 3-4 mm long; stigma slightly 3-lobed (Moss, 1983). Fruits and SeedsRed berry; round; 1-1.5 cm wide; inedible; several seeds (Moss, 1983).

Common Name twisted stalk General Description A perennial herb that develops from a thick rhizome; the stalk is 30-100 cm high; hairy below the first branches, can be branched or unbranched and bears greenish-white flowers (Moss, 1983). Leaves Lance-shaped; 4-12 cm long and 1-6 cm wide; heart-shaped at base and clasping; bluish-green beneath; margin entire or toothed (Moss, 1983). No basal leaves (E-Flora BC).
