LeavesBract-like; sheathing (Johnson et al., 1995).
FlowersUnbranched, elongated flowers; mature bottom upwards (raceme); raceme 5-15 cm long; 10-25 flowers; sepals and petals 8-16 mm long; yellow or purple with purple stripes; lip 8-12 mm long; white; purple striations; tongue-shaped; no spur; entire margin (Moss, 1983).

General Description
A perennial saprophyte that grows 15-40 cm tall from a rhizome to bear purplish to yellowish-pink flowers (Johnson et al., 1995; E-Flora BC).

Unbranched, elongated flowers; mature bottom upwards (raceme); raceme 5-15 cm long; 10-25 flowers; sepals and petals 8-16 mm long; yellow or purple with purple stripes; lip 8-12 mm long; white; purple striations; tongue-shaped; no spur; entire margin (Moss, 1983).

Notes
2n=42 (Moss, 1983). May be confused with spotted coral roots that do not have their typical spots; lip in this species is not lobed like in spotted coral root (Johnson et al., 1995).
Range/Distribution
Alberta: rare, south and central (Canadensys). CAN (BC, SK, MB, ON, QC, NL); USA (NY, MI, MN, ND, SD, NE, TX, NM, CO, WY, MT, ID, UT, AZ, CA, NV, OR, WA) (USDA).
