Pacific ninebark (Physocarpus capitatus) is a shrub in the family Rosaceae native to the western U.S. and British Columbia. It grows to 4 m high and prefers moist well-drained soil. Both the white inflorescences and pinkish puffy fruit (from which its generic name is derived: physo = inflated, carpus = fruit). The flowers are attractive to a wide range of insects.
