A dupatta (shawl) made from tasar silk (Antheraea paphia). Label reads: "Woman's dupatta (shawl) of tasar silk (Antheraea paphia = A. mylitta) that was handwoven in Odisha (formerly spelled Orissa). This is a vintage piece probably at least 20 to 30 years old, purchased by RIchard S. Peigler in January 2018 from an internet dealer in New Delhi, who sells vintage textiles. The silk is hand-reeled and the natural color. The ikat motifs are typical of Odisha, and include lotus flowers. The brocaded portions include fibers interwoven with tasar, such as mulberry silk (bombyx mori) and possibly cotton or acrylic. Washed in de-ionized water and Orvis paste by R. Peigler in February 2018. Price paid: US$19.99".
