This robe is a traditional style of full-length Tibetan robe, or a chuba, with long sleeves and right side opening. The robe is thick and has a batting-lined collar suggesting the owner might use it in cold weather in Tibet. The pattern on the Chinese brocade of the robe features dragons, clouds, rocks, and waves, displaying a Qing imperial design.

The robe is thick and heavy and reveals the fabric belongs to an early Qing style. Crowded cloud patterns accumulate all over the robe. Eight gold brocaded dragons are upon the clouds, including four front-facing dragons on the top section (chest, back and shoulders) and four side-facing dragons on the lower section (front and back). Below the dragons, there are large curled waves, rocks in the middle and colourful striped waters along the hem.
