The bullroarer is a long, hollow, blue plastic cylinder. Sound is produced by holding one end of the bullroarer and spinning the other end through the air in a circular motion. The bullroarer is classified as a whirling aerophone. Other varieties of bullroarers are made from string strung through the end of a piece of wood, stone, or bone. The string is knotted to hold the wood in place. Blades can come in a variety of sizes from 15 to 85 cm in length, and laceolate, rectangular shapes.
